Bobby Creekwater – “Back 2 the Briefcase 2: The B-Side” (Mixtape Review)

This isn't the mixtape cover for Bobby Creek's mixtape. Some people don't want to see all of that, so I'll just say hi instead (haha). Click here to see it anyway.
Remember I told you that Bobby Creekwater was one of the rappers that had the ability to be a great hip-hop artist? (Check the last line of his last review) Remember I posted the video for his freestyle over “Exhibit B?” Here’s more proof for you if you’re still unsure about it. “Back To The Briefcase: The B-Side” is one of the more surprising things to happen recently. After Bobby recently dropped “Back to the Briefcase”, no one really expected him to release a part two for it, but he did, and to be completely blunt about it, it’s one of the best mixtapes out right now.
The Good:
Lyrics and content, for the win. Point blank, the man comes with it on every song on this mixtape in some way, shape or form. I didn’t think I’d like anyone over the “Exhibit” beats after Jay Electronica, and then ESPECIALLY after what QuESt did to it (God have mercy, QuESt bodied it for 5 minutes straight) but Bobby Creek came with it.
Powerful punchlines combined with quotable lines? I’m glad Creek came through so I didn’t look like an idiot for saying Aftermath shouldn’t of dropped him… “The B-Side” is 11 tracks (9 excluding the Boondocks outro and the hater interlude), and it’s short, sweet, to the point, and pretty much dope the whole time there’s music playing.
The Bad:
It’s short! It’s only nine tracks and two interludes. Technically this is the second part of the “Back to the Briefcase” series, so it gets a pass this time. One or two of the songs might not fit the vibe of the mixtape to some people (specifically, the Kid CuDi inspired “Pursuit of Greatness” flip). Also, the interludes (although I personally enjoyed all of them) might throw some people off, although I have no idea why, honestly…
Bottom Line:
You already know I’m going to tell you to download this. The mixtape’s dope, and there’s something here that every hip-hop head should like, in theory at least. Check this mixtape out. If you think of Bobby Creekwater, you should associate “The B-Side” with him, because that’s what I’ve always seen in him. Hopefully you can understand why after a playthough of this.
