The Preview: (Before Episode Three)
“Tell me yourself.”
The angel looked up during mid-stride. “Kale.”
“Nolan! You should’ve taken the Twinkie. Timeless stuff man. You know Jesus was eating a Twinkie when he evaded being stoned that one time?”
Nolan shook his head in disgust. “Why’d you do that?”
“Do what?”
“You gave me energy when you threw me.”
“No, I didn’t.”
“Then you just let me kill that dude.”
“I didn’t like him anyway. But to fulfill your wishes about the last statement, THAT demon is dead, yes. That demon’s spirit? No way. I can just appoint another Instigator and the same rules apply.”
“So I can’t get 100 percent rid of them?”
“Life is always a constant struggle. It won’t stop being a problem for you until ya’ boy begins to recognize it and block it himself.”
Nolan clutched on his staff, but it had shrunk in size and was barely over a foot long.
“It’s called Discernment, Nolan.”
“I’ll name my own staff, thank you very much.”
“No…not what I was referring to,” Kale said, a little amused at the misunderstanding. “You have to have it, aka “Discernment” in order to be able to survive in life, period. Some people call it wisdom, the little small voice, your ‘inner-conscience-“
“How do you know all of this? You’re a demon.”
“…Are you being spiritually racist?” Kale laughed. “Ha! I take offense to that.”
Nolan sprang up towards Kale and winded his staff back in his right hand, ready to spring. Almost instantly, Kale was behind him, with his arm on the staff. “You don’t want to fight me yet. Trust me on this.”
Nolan came around with his free arm to swing and somehow missed him completely.
“Ok…if you insist…” Kale ducked under the punch and skyrocketed upwards to his face with a knee that sent Nolan flying.
Kale flew beside Nolan as he drifted through the air. “Not a good look right now. That discernment thing goes for angels too, you know. Use it. Now. Trust me on this.”
Nola growled and began to turn, but Kale grabbed and slammed him all the way into the ground. “Have you NOT heard anything we’ve talked about?”
Nolan lifted himself off the ground. He knew he was outmatched. “Why don’t you kill me?”
Kale smiled. “That wasn’t my assignment. It’s not my purpose.”
“Then WHAT is your assignment, sir?”
“Everything is rarely as it seems. Stupid, stubborn Guardian Angels…”
Without another word, Kale flew off. He could’ve killed the angel easily, but like he said, it was not his assignment…
“Well… T.I.’s Dead and Gone…heheh, ironic…”
He noticed a wounded demon ahead of him. Look at this guy running… “STRIFE!!!”
The demon saw him, and began to flee from his boss.
Ugh, he’s running..I knew he’d run. Kale landed on the ground, boosted off of his foot and launched himself at his flunky catching him in almost a second. He grabbed the demon by his neck and plummeted him face-first into the ground.
Kale leaned towards its ear. “What did we discuss before we attacked? What’s the last thing I said?”
“You… you said if we don’t kill him, you’ll kill us. But it wasn’t my idea, T.I.-“
“Died. And you ran. Did you forget there’s another one of you IN the HOUSE??” Kale snapped the demon’s neck in anger. As he slammed his head into the ground afterwards, the body turned to ashes.
“No worries though,” he said as he stood and watched the ashes blow away, “I have a plan B.”
As he walked back to the school, he thought about what he had said earlier:
“He can’t see, so you don’t fight. I just need you in the AREA. As long as you’re there, you have a license to be there because they will keep magnifying your power. Just live your name and your job,” Kale said, pointing to Strife and The Instigator, “will make HIS job easier,” he said, pointing to another demon. “If you do your job, then you won’t have to fight…”
Kale looked back towards Juan’s house. Hopefully he’ll figure it out before it’s too late for him. He heard a demon behind him. “Go.”
Anger smiled. “ABOUT TIME.” The demon flew off in top speed. They knew their assignments. But no one knew Kale’s…
But that was just the way He preferred it.
“Can’t wait until this is over.”
